Welcome to CDM’s June 2020 Issue
From the U.S. Editor-in-Chief
Although we don’t claim to have a crystal ball, we would like to replay a paragraph from our Welcome
Message from only a few months ago, in the CDM January issue:
“If we consider for a moment the increasing speed at which cyber developments occur, and place that in
the perspective of 20-year increments, we must be prepared to deal with new and growing challenges to
cybersecurity.
Foremost among them will likely be based on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, the 5G network,
and no doubt more we have not yet seen or imagined.”
At that time, there were few, if any, cybersecurity professionals who foresaw the advent of the
Coronavirus and COVID-19 phenomenon. Fewer still would have predicted the Work From Home (WFH)
implications or the vastly increased vulnerabilities accompanying this pseudo-migration.
How will these developments affect our everyday lives? Consider this: Who would have predicted 20
years ago the effects of TSA screenings on air travel?
Readers will notice that this month’s topics include many which have a direct bearing on the response to
these new and challenging threats arising out of the mass exodus of information workers from an office
environment to a (usually less secure) home set-up.
At Cyber Defense Magazine, we endeavor to keep our audience informed and ahead of the curve of
these very developments.
Wishing you all success in your cyber security endeavors,
