The latest CryptoPrevent version 8.0 adds about 4000 such rules to cover a maximum of
known ransomware activity patterns. HoneyPot Ransomware Protection is another
unique functionality that terminates all non-critical applications as soon as ransomware
behavior is spotted. The Folder Watch feature complements the defenses by monitoring
common system paths for signs of malicious code.
Be advised these tools are good at prevention, but none of them will restore your files after a
piece of ransomware has encrypted them.
Moreover, these programs are no panacea. Cybercriminals keep coming up with new
contamination vectors all the time.
This is why it’s also important to exercise caution with spam email attachments, keep your
software up to date and routinely back up your important data.
