10 examples, how cybersecurity loss can destroy your business

Being a multi-national, multi-million dollar company has its pros and cons. On one hand, you
always have the trust and support of potential clients that want to invest into your business and
work with you. On other, you will always have the looming threat of cyber attacks over your
head, no matter how secure your network might be. Let’s take a look at some of the examples
where business security systems simply didn’t do the job.

                   1. Centene – As a health-care company, Centene has always indulged in healthy customer
relations and proper security measures. That is, until a breach happened in January of
2016, which resulted in a loss of six local hard drives and over 900,000 potentially
impacted clients. The stolen data of this magnitude can cause severe loss of trust and
stock market value for a company, which Centene is still recovering from. It’s still unclear
whether the hard drives were encrypted or not, meaning that the potentially lost
information could be accessible at any moment by the perpetrators.

                   2. Bupa – A health insurance company that lost information on around 500,000 clients at
the beginning of 2017 is still trying to recover from its losses. The London-based
insurance firm stated that an internal breach happened, meaning that someone inside
the company leaked information and gave them to an outside source. Even though the
employee has been fired and is under investigation, the stolen information is still out
                       there.
